Save Money When You Shop.

Wednesday, 20 January 2016

I am a massive fan of looking around and finding things for cheaper. If I believe it is a trend that I will only wear once or twice I will not splash out the moola! Same goes for home-ware...what is the point? I do fall into the 'trend trap' now and again but who doesn't eh...but here are a few tips I use to avoid that as much as possible!

Basic ranges - every shop has them. A section where the clothes and shoes are simple, but staples. H&M do a really good basic range but I have been loving Primark's recently. Recent purchases included some really comfy (aka baggy) tops for £6 and these amazing snake skin print slip-ons which cost me a fiver! I have been loving the whole snake skin print boot trend I have seen all over Instagram but when I tried them on I just felt like a pimp or something. So, snake skin flats will do the trick!

Sales - They are booming in January. Every shop is wanting to get rid of Christmas/Winter stock which means massive reductions. In the sales I do pick up a few clothing items but I mainly head towards the jewellery stands (especially the ones in Topshop). Items are usually reduced to a couple of quid so I stock up until the summer sales come around.

Amazon - It is a really good site for finding dupes. I have been eyeing up this Asos Circle Clip for a little while and although it isn't a lot of money, I knew I could find it cheaper on Amazon and I did here for £1.78! Same for my silver Casio. I got the gold one for my 17th birthday (£30 in store) a few months after that I bought the silver one for around £12 online.

As for homeware, Ikea is amazing for cheap plants...but everyone knows that anyway! Another good place to look for home-ware pieces is at the supermarket. I got this 'P' candle plate for around £2 at Asda. I use it to place a few jewellery items on and you've got a chic, trendy piece to place on your desk.

Do you have any money saving tips? If you do let me know! Oh, and don't forget to leave your blog links in the comments so I can check them out!

I Updated My Blog!

Sunday, 17 January 2016
(I have even changed the header already...I am so indecisive)
I have finally updated my blog layout! I've been wanting to do it since early christmas but I didn't want to pay too much for a layout and I definitely didn't know how to do it myself. So I went on Etsy, found an amazing seller and here we are!

I am still learning how to link things up and stuff so not everything is perfect just yet...but I am so happy with it so far! I want to update my banner soon too.
Let me know what you think! Do you prefer the new layout?

The Perfect Home For A Crosley Turntable.

Wednesday, 13 January 2016

Interiors and décor are my thing. I love swapping my bedroom around I actually work in a home furnishings kinda store. My dad is letting me decorate the living room soon, which I am super excited about too! But that's another blog post. My most recent project was finding a home for my Crosley turntable...I have had it for a year and until now its never really had a home. Of course I looked for the record player stands and found some nice ones like this one here but they were super expensive. So, I just placed it on a pile of Elle magazines and lived with the eyesore. Then on Instagram I saw someone using the IKEA Bekvam Step Stool as a side table. I had a light bulb moment and knew my record player would fit nicely on top. So what did I do? I went and bought it didn't I! Along with a new duvet cover and some plants I didn't need (I cant resist!). I got home put it altogether and hey presto! My record player had the perfect home. I store my vinyl's underneath and obvs added some planty bits to the stools step.

I think this is a good space saving home for a record player as the 'proper' stands can be hefty and quite large. I also saved a lot of money...the stool was only £14! Barg!
Let me know what you think about this idea!

3...Relaxing Things.

Thursday, 7 January 2016

After the holiday madness I think we could all do with a bit of relaxation, I know I could. So today I am sharing 3 things that relax me.
A Lush bath has to be at the top of the list. Its the easiest thing to do, just add a bath bomb or crumble a bubble bar under the running tap, moisturise and chill.
Another thing that relaxes me is reading. I cant really get into novels or any kind of deep book so I like to flick through a 'coffee table' kinda book. I got The Ultimate Natural Beauty Bible for Christmas and I love it. It is a super easy read for a few minutes or so. Finally, listening to music with headphones in. Any kind of music relaxes me I either put the radio on or, as of recent, Justin Biebers new album...I'm a bloody belieber now!
What do you do to relax?

3...December(ish) Favourites.

Monday, 21 December 2015

I know this is a tad early for a December favourites but I had a few items that I wanted to share with you. The first being sleeveless jumpers, yes you're probably thinking 'what is the point in a sleeveless jumper?' paired with a long sleeved top underneath it makes the perfect combo. I love the look of them and they are super easy to throw on with leggings or jeans. The top two are from Primark but my favourite one, which is in the wash, is from H&M. The other fashion item I have been loving is my grey blanket scarf. Again it is from Primark and it was only £7! I am loving Primark at the minute... I always prefer their A/W things to their S/S collections.

My last fave is this eye shadow duo. I bought the Mac Bronze from a beauty shop, which sells discounted Mac products. I loved the colour but when I applied it to the eye it just didn't settle and it felt sticky. I went back on the hunt for a copper eye shadow and came across Mac coppering when I was at the Trafford. I fell in love with the bright red/orange copper. When I applied them together it was the exact look I was going for and I have been wearing it ever since.
Those are my *very early* December favourites, what are yours?

Christmas Decorations 2015.

Sunday, 6 December 2015

I don't know about you, but my Christmas decs went up on the 30th of November ready for the beginning of December... I would have put them up way sooner if I would had the time.
Anyway, I thought it was about time I showed you them.

had collected an array of red, white and kitsch looking individual decorations over the past couple of years. A lot of them where from last year, when I raided the christmas aisles on christmas eve to get some of the discounted decs. I collect a few individual decorations every year so when I get my own house/flat and get a massive REAL Christmas tree (my dad refuses to get a real one) I will have more than enough to decorate it with.

Besides the discounted ones, I have picked up a few from the church Christmas fairs my village holds and collected some which had been passed down.

A lot of people don't really decorate their room for Christmas but I love too. I spend a good amount of time in my bedroom so why not decorate it according to the seasons!
How do you like to decorate at christmas?

My Favourite Bloggers.

Thursday, 26 November 2015
I am running low on blog post ideas (yes, again!) so I thought I would have a little chat about my fave bloggers, and a few youtubers.

The Michalaks - My all time fave youtubers at the minute! I love settling down every Sunday with a cuppa in one hand and my IPad in my other, watching their weekly vlogs full of adventures in London. Everything they film is amazing quality and so lovely to watch.

Kate La Vie (previously Ghost parties) - Kate's blog inspired me to make my own, probably like many others. From the writing to the pictures, everything is set out beautifully.

Sammi (The beauty crush) - I've been watching Sammi for ages, I love her evolving style and the content on her blog has been amazing recently!

The ugly face of beauty - I have been watching Gracie's videos for a while but I am really loving the inspirational and the foodie blog posts she is creating at the moment. Oh, and I love keeping up with her vlogs.

Its another girls life - I found Mary through Gracie's channel. She's so funny and I absolutely love her style. Deffo watch her car vlogs, they are so funny!

Who is your favourite blogger/youtuber?

My Top 4 Blushers.

Monday, 2 November 2015

So, it is actually November now! Where has the time gone?! I hope everyone had a good Halloween and is now getting into the Christmas spirit (too early? I think not!). Today I thought I would yap on about my favourite blushers. I used to love the stuff in school (which was quite unfortunate as I constantly looked embarrassed/boiling hot) but then it was just like I had forgotten all about them. Recently I've been wanting to change up my basic everyday make up look, so I dived into my make-up box to rediscover my old blushes and these were my favourite 4.

Natural Collections Pink Cloud  was my love when I was at school. I went out and repurchased it a couple of weeks back and remembered how much I loved it. It gives the perfect pinky glow, and at £1.99 its a barg! Sticking with the pinky tones I am really liking Sleeks Rose Gold. If you're into sparkly blushes this is the one for you. It is a 'traditional' pink shade with golden flecks, its kinda like a blush and highlighter in one. You have to be really light handed with the Sleek blushers because they are super pigmented. On the other end of the Sleek spectrum is Flushed. I love this dark shade for the colder months as it gives a lovely rosey glow. Its matte too so if you're not into glittery blushers this would most likely be a winner. And finally is Clarins Soft Peach. This is called the illuminating blush and I think I would agree. It is almost like a highlight on me, probably because I am pale, but this is the one I have been reaching for the most lately!

Those are my top 4 blushers, what are yours?

I got Tumblr! Well, I've had it for a while and just never used it aha, lets see if I stick to it this time!

The Worlds Worst Blogger...

Thursday, 22 October 2015
I am probably over reacting in the title but I reckon I have been the worlds worst blogger recently (can I even call myself a blogger? I don't see myself as one, I just do this for a bit of fun and to make myself feel like I am actually achieving something with my life aha). Anyway, I have been super busy recently! I went to London, helped a friend out with a costume she had to create, it was my friends birthday, a few friends were back from uni and of course I decided to change my bedroom around again didn't I (it's still not finished PHA). So yeah, I've been a busy bee. Also, with it being Autumn now and the early nights drawing in it has been pretty difficult to get some decent light in my room to take pictures.
One thing I have been keeping up with is my Instagram! I am proper into it at the moment, I just like taking pictures of random crap I suppose.

Oh, just one more thing...I need some new post ideas! My mind has been at a blank for the last couple of weeks so any ideas of posts you would like to see are truly welcome. Let me know what you lot have been up to recently too, I'd love to know!

London: A Little Haul.

Sunday, 20 September 2015
This is part two of my little London series and I am going to be sharing the bits I bought whilst I was down there.

I actually got a decent amount of things. I didn't think I'd end up coming home with a lot of stuff but it wasn't as expensive as I thought...which was kind of dangerous haha!
At Camden I ended up getting a silver-ish skull, which I fell in love with. I got it from a little shop full of skulls and mythical creatures. The man who owned it said his friend hand makes everything. Knowing it was handmade made me love it even more.

On Friday we visited a lot of the charity shops which were ram packed with old records. I ended up leaving with a Lionel Richie vinyl because Lionel is life...and it was only £1, barg! I also nipped into the Lush, of course. I picked up a creamy candy bubble bar and a blackberry bath bomb. Finally I ordered my new granny glasses and picked them up later that evening. They are not everyone's cup of tea but I love em (plus they fit my massive head).

In London we stopped off at Liberty where I spotted this illustration book. I instantly fell in love with it. The woman who served us in there was soooo lovely too.

And finally, Brick Lane. I had to go to Rokit! I ended up getting a coat, I was pretty surprised actually because a lot of things in vintage shops are like a 90's oversized look and I don't really suit that type of fit (I like baggy clothes not oversized, there is a difference!). But the coat I dug out is a gem!
The last purchase from my trip was a bunch of chocolate. How can you leave a trip away without picking up some chocolate?! Dark Sugars on Brick Lane is the liveliest, modern chocolate shop I have ever seen! Old school Justin Timberlake was blasting out of the doors, you could literally hear it from down the street (I wasn't complaining though). The staff were so friendly, dancing around, taking pictures with people all whilst shoving chocolates into everyone's mouth who entered the door. I must have consumed about 10 chocolates whilst I was in there. We ended up spending £12 on different chocolates, it was deffo worth it though!

So that's everything I got. I have probably forgotten about a lot of the things that I bought but these were definitely the best of the bunch.

London: Wondering Around.

Wednesday, 16 September 2015
I am finally sitting down and writing a post after the busiest couple of weeks ever! It started off at staying in Birmingham with my brother, sister-in-law and niece for 4 days. I then got whisked away to go stay with my mum for like another 4/5 days. Luckily enough she lives pretty close to the centre of London so we did loaaaads of exploring and I wanted to share it.
I will probably split this post into two. Maybe like one half will be a wondering around/what I did post (this one) and the other will be the bits and bobs I bought whilst I was down there.
So, starting with the exploring part! The first place we visited was Camden, my fave place ever! The little market stalls and independent shops were full of nick nacks, food, clothing, art, records, jewellery basically everything you could think of! The people who worked there and the people that were just wondering, like us, were so unique. I actually enjoyed seeing the different styles and cultures everyone had. You could spend hours just roaming around and you probably still wouldn't visit everything it has to offer.

The next day we went to the West end, I think it was anyway...if I get any of these places wrong I do apologise! I am a Northern and London just baffles me, haha! Anyway, we roamed around, visited an art gallery, went into Liberty (it was a definite must visit on my list), went into Hamley's and got a toy rat thrown at me, just don't ask.
We also went to Covent Garden where they had this massive balloon installation, it was pretty cool.
Later that evening we drove up to St Albans to have tea in a pub which claims to be England's oldest pub. I reckon the one in my town is deffo older though!

On Friday we stayed pretty local. We just visited all of the charity shops searching for vinyl records, I picked up an absolute beaut, but you will have to wait and see which artist it is in my next post, mwhaha!
On the final day we went to Brick Lane. From being young I have always wanted to go to Brick Lane, it was the only place I wanted to visit if I ever went to London. Although I had a fab time there, and enjoyed a salt beef sandwich (you HAVE to try them if you ever get the chance), Camden was still the place I loved the most. I just seemed to fit in more and I felt like I'd been there loads of times before. Still, the graffiti in Brick Lane was amazing!

That's just a quick summary of my time in London. I could have gone on and on but I didn't want to bore any of you. I hope you enjoyed this travely post, next up will be a London haul but for now, byeeeeee.
P.S. Sorry that I didn't get to many pictures and that the ones I did get aren't very good quality. I wanted to enjoy my stay as much as possible which did involve my phone being thrown to the bottom of my bag most of the time.

Blogging, Art & New Ideas...

Monday, 24 August 2015
Hey hey! So after a while of feeling uninspired and bored of my blog I gave myself a kick up the bum and decided to do something about it. Most of my posts you may have seen had been pre-written ageeees ago. Even though I didn't think they were very good I decided to post them anyway, I had nothing to lose did I?! Now they are all live I decided that I didn't want to carry on feeling like I had to post content and that it had to fit into a certain 'category' of blogging. So this is just a quick post to get it off my chest and to start a fresh!

As I said, I felt like I had to post content which I had to create and deliver in a certain way and because of this I wasn't putting my personality into my content. But now I am just going to put 100% into everything, posting what I want when I want.
Whilst I had a bit of spare time I rekindled my love for art and discovered the world of hand lettering. I post a few bits and bats on my Insta and I am also selling some watercolour design notebooks on my Depop (@poppyykayy).

I also want some new blogs to follow and want to get to know more people in the blogging world. So leave your blog in the comments then I can check it out!

I have loads of new ideas and I cant wait to get stuck in!

How To Make Your Bedroom Cosy At Night.

Saturday, 8 August 2015
As you would have seen by now my bedroom is pretty minimalistic. I try and keep everything looking clean and fresh with small pops of colour dotted around. I love the simple look but I also love a cosy bedroom, especially at night time. It's pretty hard to achieve this as when your bedroom is completely white and minimal it can sometimes look a bit empty and cold at night. So I thought I show you how I get the best of both worlds!

Close The Curtains.
This sounds like the simplest of things but closing the curtains does make my bedroom feel 100% more cosy. During the day time when they would be open it feels like you're letting the world in, you can hear sounds, see things and the last bit of sunlight beams in. So by shutting them its like you're boxing yourself into your own little place.

Lighting.
When the curtains are closed its obviously going to be darker and I cant relax when I have my big light on so I like the have a lamp or my fairy lights on. I also like to light some candles, I think the ones that smell of cinnamon are the cosiest ones to have!

Cushions And Blankets.
I love piling my cushions up into the corner of my bed and sitting in them with my blankets over me, whilst watching Netflixs...obvs. Again its all about creating your own little space to chill.

Clutter Yourself.
By clutter yourself I mean have everything you need around you. I make sure i have my TV remote, a drink, a few magazines, my IPad, my phone, my laptop and probably a bar of chocolate which i will most likely eat by myself and feel guilty afterwards...come on, we've all done it!

Finally I just throw on my fluffy rabbit onesie on from Next and put a film on or scroll through Tumblr. Just do anything that relaxes you and make you feel super cosy! That's basically how I transform my room from simple during the day to cosy at night time!

The Versatile Blog Awards.

Monday, 20 July 2015
So, I am currently rearranging my room (yesssss, againnn) and I thought I would take a break and write a few blog posts the first one being this one, the versatile blog awards.
I was tagged by Abby, from Lace & Lilacs (She has a beautiful blog, defiantly check it out!) so I thought I would give it a go!

- Thank the person who gave you the award - Thanks, Abby :)
- Included a link to their blog - Lace & Lilacs, Its amazing!
- Tell the person who nominated you 7 things about yourself.
- Nominate 15 blogs that you have recently discovered/followed.

ONE - Erm, so I guess I am pretty tall. I am just over 5'9, is that even classed as tall any more? Anyway I have always been a bit of a lanky one, I haven't got a clue where I got it from though because my mum and dad are really short.

TWO - I have around 22 cacti and plants dotted around my tiny room. I make my room sound like a right jungle don't I, but it isn't as bad as it sounds. I have the miniature cacti you see so it kinda justifies it...right?

THREE - I actually love thunderstorms. I just find it really cosy and exciting when you're all tucked up in bed or inside and its thundering and stormy outside. We had a really bad one up North a few weeks back (the picture above). I was convinced it was aliens or something...

FOUR - I can never finish books. I try my hardest to read but I just cant seem to lose myself in a book. I recently finished watching My Mad Fat Diary which was on E4 and I want to read the books...lets just say I am still on the first couple of pages a month in. There was one book series I did finish a while back. It was Six Steps To A Girl by Sophie McKenzie. It was probably aimed towards kids to be honest, pha.

FIVE - I have an unhealthy obsession with mugs. I sound like a proper old lady right now. I don't know what it is but I just like buying new mugs. I have like 10 mugs just for myself that no one else is allowed to use. I suppose I'll be prepared when I move out though mwhaha!

SIX - I really like pesto. Its my fave thing to eat! I have it with pasta, on pizzas basically I have it with everything possible. My sister says i eat it too much, shes' probably right.

SEVEN -  I guess the last fact about me that everybody who knows me will know is that I love art and fashion and anything that involves being creative. I'd love to wonder around London or some big city going to different galleries one day. I studied fashion and double art at college and got 3 A-levels so I was pretty happy!

So yeah, they are my 7 facts. I tag...
Haley from Iwalkedonaraibow and...In fact, I tag anyone who reads this! If you do this tag let me know so I can see your seven facts!

The Beginning Of My (Very Wonky) Frame Wall.

Thursday, 16 July 2015
I'm back with another interior post, YAY! I've always loved frame walls, the simple kind or the cluttered, colourful kind, it can really show your personality. After months of mithering my dad to pin my frames up i decided to have a go at it myself! I didn't follow any kind of instructions or anything. I think you just have to go with the flow and pin them wherever you want to!

First off i bought about 6 frames from The Range and then was the hunt for the prints and pictures to fill them with. I found loads of websites that sell amazing prints but i couldn't wait for the delivery and they can be pricey! I then thought to myself, why don't i just fill them up with drawings, material scraps and print outs? The 'Hey girl...' the 'meow' and the lips were all drawn by me. The jeans picture is from the internet and the materials are from my scrap box. Oh, and the little polaroids are from my camera.

I am pretty happy with it so far but i definitely want to fill the entire wall up and maybe add more colour? I really like typography art work the best, its super easy to create and it costs nothing!
