£1 Lip Liner?!

Tuesday 28 June 2016

Yep! You heard right, a lip liner for £1! It is an amazing product too. This £1 lip liner is from *drum roll please* Primark! I have always browsed their make up section but only ever reached for their nail polishes (which are also pretty good). This time I decided to part with one pound for one of their lip products.

Shade 09 jumped out at me straight away. It is the perfect mauve colour with extra pinky tones, my fave kind of colour to wear on my lips. The consistency of the lip pencil is extremely creamy, I'd say its more of a lip crayon texture. The product is matte so it can be a tiny bit drying at times and I have noticed that it does clog up on the lips after a few applications, but hey it was a £1. Once applied I just add a tad of Vaseline to soften the lips up a bit, this stops the cloggyness (just made my own word up there) too.

What more can I say? It was a pound and it is a lovely product, well worth the money!

Have you ever tried Primark cosmetics?

Shop Your Own Wardrobe.

Saturday 25 June 2016

Shopping in your own wardrobe sounds a bit weird doesn't it, but its actually amazing at the treasures you can find in the back of your wardrobe. I have a clothing rail in my room then a couple of boxes that I keep stored away. Every now and again I dig around in the boxes to see what I can find to add to my rail of current clothing.

So, how do you do it? First gather every single bit of clothing you have, from the back your wardrobe, storage and even the wonky old draw chest that is crammed with clutter (we all have one don't worry haha). Once everything is together create 3 piles:
Pile 1. The things you currently wear.
Pile 2. Stuff you don't want anymore that can be sold or given away.
Pile 3. The hidden gems that you forgot about.
(I'd put the radio on and grab some snacks whilst doing this because it could take a while!)

Now, its time to bag up those old clothes and throw them out of the way! And then there was two... hang up/fold the clothes that you currently wear or that are new. With the 'treasure pile' (as I like to call it) try them on, style them with things you kept from the previous pile and see if they work or not. If not throw them with the rubbish pile, if they look amaze hang them up with the rest of the pieces. You will be so surprised at the things that you can find. See the jeans above? I have had those things lurking in the darkness for years. I bought them not knowing how to style them so they got pushed to the back. When I came back to them a year later they where too tight, so again they got pushed to the back. This summer I dug them out once again, styled them with some of the newer pieces from my wardrobe and hey presto! I had a chic new look for the cooler summer days.

It is a little mission to get through this process, but it is something you will not regret!
Do you ever shop through your own wardrobe?

Lets Talk About Blogging.

Wednesday 22 June 2016

So, lets talk about blogging. When I started my blog last year it was just something to pass the time. I had just walked out of a dreadful job, I had a lot of time on my hands and I needed something to get up for in the morning. So, whilst I was looking for a job I started to build this little place... just to chat on about crap really. I haven't looked back since. I feel like if I stopped blogging now I wouldn't know what to do with my spare time. Although I am not blogging as much as I would like to at the minute I still try to squeeze it in at any chance I get.

I've learned a few things since blogging. The first being that it gives you a lot more confidence. It took a lot of courage for me to create this blog. I was (and still am) a shy person. I find it hard to talk to new people and to open up to even my old friends. Anyway, since starting this blog I feel like I have gained a little more confidence. You've just got to pluck up the first lot of courage to start a blog, once you have done that everything else falls into place. My next step is starting my YouTube channel properly. I'd love to daily/weekly vlog or something like that, but my confidence isn't quite there yet.

Another thing I've learned is that you get better at it with time. Like when I first started I didn't know how to edit any of my photos or use certain settings on my camera. I didn't know how to use the natural light to my advantage or how to arrange a flatlay. Although I am not perfect at it now I have come a long way from where I started and am enjoying learning along the way.

I think my favourite part about blogging is the learning part. I pick up something new everyday and love trying it out for myself. I also love the photography side of blogging. My aim for the next few months is to get a new camera. It isn't an necessity but I feel like I have mastered my SLR camera and want to move onto a DSLR. Like I said its all about getting better with time and I feel like this is the next step for my to grow my blog.

I hope you enjoyed this little rambley post. Let me know what is your favourite thing about blogging?

New Homey Bits #2.

Wednesday 15 June 2016

I have collected a few new pieces for my bedroom over the past couple of months. Honestly I don't know how I fit all of this stuff in my bedroom anymore. I think I could fill a castle with the things I have accumulated over the years. Anyway, onto the new stuff. I got that cushion you can see there (in the picture above) from Botany Bay for £5, cheap as chips eh? I also got a new plant (obis) can you believe this was only £4 form Tesco! For the plant AND the pot thats a bargain! I've just gotta keep it alive now, haha.

And finally, a little something from Ikea. I needed some extra room on my clothing rail for things that didn't really need to be hung up, like casual tops and leggings. I found this contraption that attaches to the clothing rail and you just fold your stuff up and pop it inside. I thought it was pretty handy and for £8.50, you can't go wrong.

I feel like I have picked up some good bargains recently!
Have you picked up anything new?

£1.50 Concealer?!

Sunday 12 June 2016

Being really pale can be difficult make-up wise. You've got to hunt for the perfect shade of foundation which can be a mission in itself. But then you've gotta find your powder and a bronzer that doesn't look mucky and blah blah blah, you know the story.
Anyway, this particular day I was on the hunt for a concealer to highlight with. I came across this MUA Cover & Conceal Wand for just £1.50. I thought I was getting an absolute bargain, even if it didn't work for me, it was only £1.50 right? They did it in a good variety of colours too, especially for paler skin tones.

When I first tried this product out I loved it. It was the perfect colour for a subtle highlight (coverage wise it isn't that good), but through out the day I noticed my make up was disappearing around my nose and under my eyes. I was suffering from dry skin at the time so I just put it down to that. I carried on using it, soon realising that it was the concealer vanishing from my face and taking any trace of foundation with it. I've tried it a couple of times again but the same keeps happening. I've tried it under my foundation instead but, the same just keeps happening! I feel like this product would be good for people who do not really have big, visible pores. But for me, it was a no go. I did try to cover up blemishes with it instead, but the texture and consistency of it is very light and almost watery.

I am still on the hunt for a concealer to highlight with so if you have any suggestions, please please pleaseeee let me know!

Mini Movie No1 - Stormy Night.

Thursday 9 June 2016

We had one of our first Summer storms the other night. There is something relaxing about them, I think its because it cools down, the plants instantly become green and lively again and the sound of heavy rain is so calming. Anyway, I thought I'd film a few snippets of my night and share it in the form of a 'Mini Movie'.

Enjoy!

Sweet Mango & Falafel Wraps.

Friday 3 June 2016

Right, so I am still getting to grips with my new laptop and some where along the way I managed to delete a few blog posts. I've had my little strop (mwhaha) and now I am ready to re-write them. So on with the post!
A while ago I bought this mango, salad, falafel wrap thing from Tesco, and it was the best thing I had ever eaten...well, the best wrap I had ever eaten. I decided to recreate something similar and it turned out amazing!

To make it you will need:
-Wraps
-Peppery rocket
-Falafels (sweet potato or spinach ones, whichever you prefer)
-Mango chutney
-A pinch of pepper

First, I just throw (not literally) the falafels into the oven. I like these ones, you just put them into the oven for 18 minutes on fan 180°C, gas 6 or 200°C depending on what kind of oven you have. Easy peasy!

Whilst the falafels are cooking I like to prep my wrap. I place a handful of washed, peppery rocket onto the centre of the wrap, adding a generous helping of tangy mango chutney and a sprinkle of crushed pepper.

When the falafels are a dark, golden brown colour I tear them in half adding them to the pre-prepared wrap.
Simply fold, serve and enjoy! I am going to be honest, they don't really look like much but they taste delish!
