Lets Talk About Blogging.

Wednesday 22 June 2016

So, lets talk about blogging. When I started my blog last year it was just something to pass the time. I had just walked out of a dreadful job, I had a lot of time on my hands and I needed something to get up for in the morning. So, whilst I was looking for a job I started to build this little place... just to chat on about crap really. I haven't looked back since. I feel like if I stopped blogging now I wouldn't know what to do with my spare time. Although I am not blogging as much as I would like to at the minute I still try to squeeze it in at any chance I get.

I've learned a few things since blogging. The first being that it gives you a lot more confidence. It took a lot of courage for me to create this blog. I was (and still am) a shy person. I find it hard to talk to new people and to open up to even my old friends. Anyway, since starting this blog I feel like I have gained a little more confidence. You've just got to pluck up the first lot of courage to start a blog, once you have done that everything else falls into place. My next step is starting my YouTube channel properly. I'd love to daily/weekly vlog or something like that, but my confidence isn't quite there yet.

Another thing I've learned is that you get better at it with time. Like when I first started I didn't know how to edit any of my photos or use certain settings on my camera. I didn't know how to use the natural light to my advantage or how to arrange a flatlay. Although I am not perfect at it now I have come a long way from where I started and am enjoying learning along the way.

I think my favourite part about blogging is the learning part. I pick up something new everyday and love trying it out for myself. I also love the photography side of blogging. My aim for the next few months is to get a new camera. It isn't an necessity but I feel like I have mastered my SLR camera and want to move onto a DSLR. Like I said its all about getting better with time and I feel like this is the next step for my to grow my blog.

I hope you enjoyed this little rambley post. Let me know what is your favourite thing about blogging?

  1. thanks for sharing your story! <3 most of the time, the older generation thinks that "blogging" is a waste of time or just a past time, but really, it's more than that. It kinda helps us grow as a person and it becomes a tool for our careers as well. i also can't imagine my life without blogging.:)

  2. I love this! I'm a really shy person too, and in the beginning when I first started out, I used to put up posts and be so scared about what people would think of them (even though nobody actually read them ahah). Now? It's like second nature to me! I love it! I also LOVE photography, and my love for it has grown and improved so much since starting my blog!
I do want to start vlogging - I tried it on our holiday to Scotland over Christmas - it's a lot harder than it looks thats for sure haha! I definitely want to try it again though!

  4. I completely agree with your thoughts on blogging. I am also a shy person and it has really helped me become more comfortable interacting with both people online and in my every day life. The number of skills we learn as we blog is staggering...in what other hobby would you learn everything from coding to photography?! It really is a fabulous way to grow as an individual. Thank you for sharing your journey!

  8. I've been blogging now for a year too and I know what you mean about how hard it is too start it and put yourself out there especially when you're shy. Fortunately the blogging community tends to be really supportive and encouraging which helps to motivate me more. I think one of my favourite parts is the learning too, especially the photography side, when I look back I can see the progress I've made and it can be really satisfying, but as you said there's always so much more to learn.
